Let us help ensure your products
do not pose a risk to consumers
Many organizations are faced with the prospect of assuring their customers and/or suppliers that their products or components originating in Japan are not adversely affected with radiological contamination from Fukushima.
Dade Moeller has the expertise to evaluate products either originating in Japan or transiting through Japan for radiological contamination.
We have established a scope of services designed to address all of the relevant issues which can potentially affect your ability to maintain commerce.
Our teams of certified health physicists are prepared to help you with the following:
Import Standards: Determine the applicable import standards(e.g., European Union, South Korea, China, Taiwan, etc.) addressing radiation levels on products and transport packaging.
Radiation Detection Instrumentation: Specify the appropriate radiation detection instrumentation needed to establish compliance with the relevant standard(s).
Survey Protocol: Prepare survey protocols to scan materials, packages, and/or containers for radiological contamination.
Component Scanning and Sampling: Determine a statistical approach to component scanning and sampling.
Training: Train personnel in the operation of radiation detection instrumentation and implementation of survey protocols.
Survey Equipment: Assist in the setup and testing of survey equipment; perform a readiness review.
Certification Statement: Establish defensible and appropriate language for inclusion on a “certification statement.”
Procedures: Develop a procedure for disposition of any out-of-specification products identified with the survey protocols.
Survey Product Implementation: Provide one or more health physics technicians to implement the radiation survey protocols for a period of time to be determined.
Dade Moeller will lead your organization through the confusion resulting from the environmental releases of radioactivity from the damaged Fukushima reactors.
We will replace the uncertainty with a solid strategy based on well-established radiation safety principles, enabling your organization to confidently conduct business with products and materials originating in Japan.
Consumer Product Safety A distributor of home and garden products learned that some of the products that they had imported and distributed to retail customers were manufactured with stainless steel containing some Co-60 contamination. Dade Moeller developed and implemented a plan to quantify the level of contamination, collect and scan the entire inventory in the U.S., and arranged for disposal of contaminated products as low level radioactive waste.
Product Safety Survey and Training In April 2011, Dade Moeller prepared a procedure for a large U.S.-based technology company to use its own detection instruments to ensure parts from Japan were free of harmful radiation. Dade Moeller also is preparing web-based training to instruct this company’s staff on how to implement the procedure.
Retail Store Radiological Safety Since 2009, Dade Moeller staff have been deployed to hundreds of sites around the U.S. to ensure the safety of radiation-emitting signage.
